We are revolutionizing the way communities care.

Although the video below was made this year featuring a single mother in Arlington, this is also the lived reality of every single mother we serve in our Pathway Project. We help moms who want to gain economic independence navigate the extreme difficulty of doing so that is very well-explained in this video below.

Your donation is matched by two additional contributors, tripling the impact of your gift!

In 2020, 29% of single mothers were jobless with 22% collecting unemployment. When you make a gift to ATW, you will be helping to eliminate one of the biggest obstacles to single mothers getting back to work in our communities —no child care on nights & weekends. Since we opened our doors in 2016, we have provided more than 12,000 hours of free child care, with private donations alone.

We survived a pandemic and rebuilt stronger than before, and we’ve figured out a way to make our loyal donor gifts go farther than ever, by cost-sharing with employers! Through the Pathway Project, single mothers who have been selected as participants receive job matching services plus the affordable child care in their own homes that they need to go to work during evenings, overnights & weekends, giving their children have the stability they need to thrive.

How are we funded?

Each of the groups below contribute to the cost of our child care service, which allows us to pay living wages + benefits to our care providers, starting at $20/hr.

Where does my donation go?

100% of donations are used to provide child care scholarships for single mothers so they can re-enter & stay in the workforce!

Think of it like this — local government makes it affordable for employers to provide by matching their contribution and the community makes our child care service affordable for single moms through child care scholarships!

The full cost parent co-pay rate for our high-quality, in-home child care single mothers participating in the Pathway Project = $12/hr; however, with community financial gifts, we are able to provide child care scholarships to offset the co-pays for these hard-working mothers who are committed to working as hard as they need to in order to give their children a bright future. This support is life-changing because if a mother earns $18/hr, she definitely can’t afford to put $12/hr towards child care. Child Care Scholarships allow moms to work towards economic self-sufficiency with the assurance that their children are safe & loved while they are doing so! While the benefit to moms & children is obvious, taxpayers benefit too.

100% of your donation goes directly to child care scholarships.

LIGHT Monthly Giving

Monthly gifts are essential to continue this work because they allow us to plan for the future, including for service expansions. Supporters who’ve joined The Light Monthly Giving Society do so because they are committed to being a light to others, in the form of giving children & hard-working moms safe, reliable childcare on their road out of poverty.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Working Women Give Back

Help us reach the goal of 150 women committed to giving a minimum of $1/day! Take a moment and call to mind who helped you & how they did it. Maybe they cared for your children so you could work or helped you get a job. Along The Way does both for unemployed & underemployed single moms! Will you be that person for the women who are largely forgotten and still expected to do it all - alone.

Kids Can Lead!

Along The Way has seen kids take the lead in their communities, over and over and over again! From 4th graders all bringing in $1 to high school students leading fundraising events for us! Along The Way recognizes that no matter your age & unique gifts, all people are capable of making great impacts in their community!

State Workplace Giving

Along The Way has applied to participate in the State Employee Combined Appeal — the Commonwealth of PA Annual Charitable Giving Campaign. The campaign runs for 8 weeks each fall and provides an opportunity to donate via recurring or one-time payroll deduction, check or money order.

Employer Matching Programs

Many employers match gifts which their employees make to charities. This is an easy way to double the impact of your gift! Please check with your employer to learn if they will match your gift to Along The Way. Many employers offer easy, automatic matching when donations are submitted through Benevity — a widely used Workplace Giving Platform, eliminating the need for you to do any paperwork to initiate the match. Create a Fundraising Team

We know that sometimes it makes the most sense to pool our resources and make an impact as a team! Clubs, Work Teams, and sometimes Churches can make more significant impacts together than any one person would be able to do alone. By creating a team, you’ll get an easily sharable link for everyone to give what they can! This will also give Along The Way a chance to spotlight your giving within our community!

Along The Way provides quality child care to fill in child care gaps when schools & daycares are closed and there are no other reliable, affordable options for families struggling to gain financial stability. With 20 hours of weekly support, our caregivers can get children off the bus and care for them until mom gets home from work every weeknight. If a mom needs care for 1-2 overnight work shifts per week, she can get that support too! Or maybe, she works or goes to school on the weekend; we also have her covered!

As a member of The Light your generous monthly gift makes a dramatic difference in the lives of children!

274 hours of childcare!

This gift amounts to 14 weeks of kids receiving consistent & responsive caregiving while their mother is working hard. It also means that because of your gift, mom has nearly 3 months to earn extra money by taking on extra shifts at work. She is able to show her employer that she is not only able to take on extra shifts, but she is reliable and can be depended upon to carry out their mission. It’s a win-win-win for families, employers, & communities.

$100 per month

137 hours of childcare

This gift amounts to 7 weeks of kids getting nurturing care, homework help, & creative play from one of our fully vetted & nurturing child care professionals that is trained in trauma-informed socio-emotional behavior management techniques, CPR/First Aid and more! It means children are able to stay in their own home, sleep in their own beds, and have the consistency all children need while their mom is out working hard 2nd/3rd/weekend shifts.

$50 per month
